My name is James Goyder.
I have lived in Asia for over ten years and spent time working and studying in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Cambodia.
I’ve done lots of interesting stuff. And some boring stuff. Some of the more interesting stuff includes a stint war reporting for the BBC and Al Jazeera and covering serious crime for major international newspapers like The Guardian.
Some of the more boring stuff includes specializing in the business of sport for major international newspapers like The National. I’ve also done commentary, punditry and even some MCing and my voice has been heard on major television networks like ITV, the BBC, Fox News and ESPN.
I’ve had a few Muay Thai and boxing matches. One of them was against an inmate in a Thai prison, I helped produce a Vice documentary about it (it’s had over 1 million views) and wrote about it for The Telegraph. Another was in front of 10,000 people at Marina Bay Sands and there was an article about it in the Daily Mirror.
I’ve also spent a lot of time writing about boxing, Muay Thai and MMA and have interviewed the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Marco Antonio Barrera and Demetrious Johnson. My articles have appeared on websites like Fightland, Sherdog and Boxing Scene.
I’ve worked as a consultant advising numerous clients, primarily on sports related opportunities in Asia. These include football clubs and academies, MMA promotions and gyms, CEOS and managers and an investment fund with a sporting focus. I can even provide references on request.
Right now I am a full time student studying the Thai language (ผมพูดภาษาไทยได้ครับ) but I am always open to new opportunities, especially (but not exclusively) related to football or combat sport, and you can contact me here.
